Mother’s Day Gifts for Grandma

May 5, 2016

When most people think about Mother’s Day, we have a pretty good feeling that their first thought solely revolves around their own mom. And while yes, Mother’s Day is designed for us to show our moms just how much we love and care for them, let’s not forget about those other motherly figures such as our grandmothers – they certainly deserve some attention too!

Once you’re done figuring out how you’ll recognize mom this year, it’s time to move onto grandma, and today, we’ve outlined a few gifts for you to help make your holiday planning a bit easier:

A Collage

Grandchildren are some of the most important people in the eyes of a grandparent, so why not make a collage filled with pictures of grandma’s granddaughters and grandsons? All you need to do is ask everyone in the family to send you some of their best photos, then you can be as creative as you’d like to put all of them together! Continue Reading…

What Type Of Flower Is Your Mom?

May 3, 2016

Ask anyone what they’ll be getting mom for Mother’s Day, and we bet almost every response will include flowers. But considering how popular of a gift flowers are, we suggest that you not just select any flower, but rather, take your gift giving to the next level by finding a flower that is a perfect match to mom, her personality, and the bond you share!

Check out our Mother’s Day flowers guide below to learn which type of floral arrangement you should be selecting this year:

Roses

Mother’s day roses are an absolute classic, and thus, one of the most popular that people come to us for each Mother’s Day! Depending on the color you choose, roses can symbolize everything from love (red) to purity (white), friendship (yellow), joy (pink) and passion (orange). If you’re looking for a combination of emotions to describe mom and your relationship, you can even choose from a bouquet of mixed colors!

Teacher Appreciation: Gift Ideas to Celebrate Favorite Teachers

May 2, 2016

dog flowers for teacherEach day for the past few months, your child’s teacher has spent hours patiently instructing, guiding and assisting a classroom full of impressionable children. Whether it’s Teacher Appreciation Day or not, you may wonder how to say thank you to your child’s favorite teacher. Your gift should express the depth of gratitude that you feel for this teacher’s hard work and joyful spirit.

Teachers have very important jobs. Each day they shape the future of our world as they mold the minds of children. Choose a teacher appreciation gift that will touch the heart of your child’s teacher whether it is on the first day or last day of school, the teacher’s birthday or just because.

Consider Personal Interests

Ask your child if he or she is aware of any of the teacher’s personal interests. If a teacher demonstrates a special fondness for gardening, a gardening kit consisting of a pretty watering can, gloves and some seed packets would be appreciated. A teacher who loves to cook might enjoy a basket of unusual spices for use at home. A chocolate-loving teacher would likely savor a box of gourmet chocolates as a special treat. If your child’s teacher has an affinity for special kinds of tea, you could create a basket containing a variety of herbal teas, a jar of honey and a CD of relaxing music. Continue Reading…

A Unique Mother’s Day Activity to Wow Mom

Spring is here and Mother’s Day is right around the corner. Have you started to think about how you can show mom just how much you love her and how special she is? Hosting a Mother’s Day wine tasting is a fun way to spend time with mom for you to enjoy the holiday together!

The planning and preparation can be as much fun as the event itself! Getting together with a few of your and moms friends to plan a Mother Daughter Wine Tasting party, makes for a great girls day and for a guaranteed good time. In addition to the mother/ daughter ideas, a Mother’s Day wine tasting for the whole family (21 and older of course!), can be equally as fun!

CARLE PLACE, NY – On Thursday, April 29th, 2016, 1-800-Flowers.com celebrated Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day at the corporate headquarters in Long Island. Every year 1-800-Flowers.com has an amazing time participating in Take Your Child to Work Day, to help teach today’s youth about different employment opportunities.

This year’s Take Your Child to Work Day agenda was a “home run!” In addition to taking a tour to learn about different areas of our business from marketing to merchandising, our young guests also received hands-on decorating and design experience. From a floral design class with one of our top designers, to dipping strawberries in chocolate from one of our FruitBouquets.com experts, to creatively decorating Cheryl’s cookies and popcorn balls, the kids had a lot of fun, while learning, too! As an added bonus, the children also got to meet a very special guest! But enough writing, we’ll let the pictures do the talking to give you a “play-by-play” of this special day!

Decorating Chocolate Strawberries with FruitBouquets.com

The kids started out the day with a presentation about FruitBouquets.com. Talented Designer Diana taught the kids all of her tricks of the trade on how to dip the perfect chocolate covered strawberries! Within minutes, the kids were able to create (and eat :)) their own chocolate berries!
