Décor In Bloom
Decorating with Flowers
Use seasonal icons such as candy canes or ornaments to add a festive touch to any bouquet of holiday flowers for a simple and sweet-scented decoration!
Give an empty glass bottle new life again by turning it into a winter vase! This DIY idea is simple and inexpensive to recreate, making it the perfect complement to your holiday flowers. The key ingredient here is the Epsom Salts, which create a beautiful texture reminiscent of that first blanket of winter snow.
Just one winter flower bouquet becomes several eye-catching decorations and accent pieces that you can spread throughout your home for a winter twist on your home décor. Alternatively, you can make several of these with bottles of varying sizes and group together for a stunningly simple centerpiece for your holiday soiree.
While spray painting, use this technique: short bursts from side to side rather than holding down for long periods of time and spraying. It is better to do several coats than to douse in paint all at once.
The menorah may be the star of the show, but it is only one of many Hanukkah decorations! Add a simple festive touch to your décor with a DIY Hanukkah centerpiece or accent for your tables with a DIY dreidel vase for your Hanukkah flowers.
We chose to stick with metallic blue and silver dreidels for a chic and sophisticated touch, but you can easily choose dreidels in vibrant colors for a playful look or with classic wooden dreidels for a traditional touch.
If you’re looking for more Hanukkah fun, get inspired with our family activities for Hanukkah post – the fun goes far beyond just the traditional dreidel game!
The perfect New Year’s Eve decoration is eye-catching, conversation-starting, stunning, and simple to make. Use empty bottles you may have leftover from your holiday parties and turn them into wow-worthy décor for your NYE soiree!
Using champagne and wine bottles for the vessel is a small detail that will make this craft extra celebratory, but keep in mind that for tall vessels such as these you will need long-stem flowers. We chose white long-stem roses from 1800flowers for a chic yet classic look that will blend beautifully with the rest of our décor.
Gold is on-trend this year so we stuck with a white and gold color scheme for this idea, but black and silver would also be a beautiful color palate for this DIY idea. Continue reading

Every year, thousands gather to watch the lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree in mid-town Manhattan, NY. Unofficially, this tradition started in 1931 with a 20 foot tree decorated by construction workers with paper, tin cans, and strings of cranberries. Although there was no tree in 1932, there has been a tree every year since the official tradition began in 1933. We have our own tradition here at 1800Flowers with our Holiday Flower Tree. Here’s our history:
Back in the late 1970′s in the original 1800Flowers shop on 1st Avenue in New York City, we were one of the first in the neighborhood to sell live Christmas trees. Customers would often tell us that they’d love to have a live tree, but their apartments were too small. One night, as we were cleaning up after a busy day of designing arrangements, a customer came in and asked if we had anything that would fit on a desktop. My sister Julie and I began crafting some boxwood into a Christmas tree, and decorated it with flowers and ornaments. the customer stood in amazement and exclaimed, “That’s perfect!” In that moment the Holiday Flower Tree was born. It has since become one of our most popular and treasured designs of the holiday season. I hope it brings just as much joy to you and your family this year.

There’s no denying that poinsettias are the quintessential holiday flower. While there’s nothing to replace the aesthetic of a fresh bouquet of poinsettias in a stunning holiday vase or basket, there are other less conventional ways to decorate using this holiday must-have.
Use our template to create your own paper poinsettias that you can attach to gifts, turn into name tags or place card settings, or simply sprinkle throughout the room for a fun pop of holiday cheer.
We used gold foil confetti for the middle of the flower, but you can choose any type of material from pearls to buttons to construction paper! Continue reading
