Podocarpus are relatives of the decorative yew tree and evergreen pine, with conifer-type short, flattened needles creating a delightful fringe-like appearance. This species has a long botanical history of shaping and training, often espaliered or trimmed as topiary. Ours is an Asian varietal sculpted in the Informal Upright style of bonsai, featuring a gently curved trunk. Both the yew and the pine are symbols of longevity.

  • Podocarpus are tropical but have the appearance of an outdoor pine
  • New light green foliage growth will appear in the Spring
  • The bark of the tree is a lovely cinnamon color.
  • Measures 14"H x 9"W; high-fired ceramic container measures 6"L x 4"W
  • This tree is an indoor bonsai preferring direct sunlight.
  • Planter size and color may vary

When a friend or loved one passes away, many people want to send funeral flowers as a symbol of their love and a show of heartfelt condolences to the family and other mourners at the service. The options for funeral flowers include: arrangements for the casket, standing arrangements such as floral crosses or wreaths, as well as smaller baskets or arrangements. However, etiquette dictates what type of arrangement is appropriate as not all funeral flowers should be sent by anyone.

Funeral Flower Etiquette at the Service

For the most part, flowers for the top or inside of the casket itself and large standing floral wreaths or sprays are generally sent only by the immediate family. The type of funeral flowers appropriate for friends or co-workers of the deceased are usually smaller standing sprays or flower baskets that can be displayed at the funeral service or at the home of the family.

Send Flowers to the Home of the Family

If you are not able to attend the funeral service, you can still send sympathy flowers to the family's home as all funeral flowers do not need to be at the service. The most common options for a sympathy gift to the home are a vase of beautiful flowers or a floral basket. Fruit baskets or gifts of gourmet food are also appreciated at the home of the family when they receive mourners.
