Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Understanding breast cancer is important to all women. That's why 1-800-FLOWERS.COM® is teaming up with the Cancer Research Institute as they work to find a cure.

Although breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in American women, over 2.8 million breast cancer survivors are alive in America today thanks to improved screening, more informed diagnoses, and better treatments. Support from the Cancer Research Institute has helped to make some of these treatment advances possible. Learn more about CRI's work to develop treatments that harness the immune system's power to conquer breast cancer.

Breast cancer symptoms vary widely —from lumps to swelling to skin changes—and many breast cancers have no obvious symptoms at all. Breastcancer.org , whose mission is to provide information and community to those touched by this disease, recommends that monthly breast self-exams be part of your regular health care routine, and you should visit your doctor if you experience breast changes. If you're over 40 or at a high risk for the disease, you should also have an annual mammogram and physical exam by a doctor.

1-800-FLOWERS.COM is supporting the fight against breast cancer by donating $10 from the purchase of each Pink Ribbon Bouquet® to the Cancer Research Institute. Hand-chosen from select floral farms, one dozen stunning, long-stem dark pink roses are picked at the peak of perfection and gathered into an elegant bouquet, reminiscent of the traditional pink ribbon symbol. It's a beautiful gift for a beautiful cause--the fight for life!
