Meet Jaime Baker, Online Marketing Manager

How long have you been with 1800flowers and how did you get involved with the company?
Just hit 4 years on May 27th.

What is your favorite 1800flowers product?
I love any product that has Calla Lilies in it & The happy hour line.

What is your job title? Can you tell us about what you do and what is your favorite thing about it?
Marketing Manager – Online Marketing. I manage the Search Engine Marketing campaigns for 18F. My favorite part of my job is being able to do keyword searches and see my blood sweat and sometimes tears in fruition (i.e. a 18F ad serving in the top position in the search result).

How did you get into Marketing?
I graduated college with a degree in Business Admin with Marketing as the core focus. I got into Online Marketing right after college – I left the industry just before Google went public and stepped away to work on product marketing. When I was offered a job here at 18F I was ecstatic because as much as I loved watching a product go from concept to full production – online marketing always had my heart!

What is your favorite flower or plant and why?
Tulips. They remind me of spring – i.e. warmer weather is coming!!

1800Flowers is a gifting company. What is your favorite gift to receive?
Anything homemade is number one, after that, receiving flowers for no apparent reason.

What’s your favorite thing about working at 1800flowers.com?
At the end of the day – we make people smile.

What is the most valuable lesson you have learned working at 1800Flowers?
This is a great organization that believes and values their employees – Last year I was selected to be part of the Emerald Group, which is our enterprise wide Leadership Development group. It was such an amazing experience to learn about various aspects of our business, not just from the floral standpoint, but through the other brands as well. The fact that I was selected made me feel that this company believes in my hard work and dedication.

My favorite part of my job is being able to do keyword searches and see my blood sweat and sometimes tears in fruition

Where did you grow up and can you tell us a little bit about it?
I grew up in Central Islip – not the greatest of neighborhoods but my parents did the best they could and my brother, sister and I were raised to have strong beliefs and do better for ourselves & our futures. All 3 of us are college graduates working in one way or another in our respective fields.

Other than your fabulous work at 1800flowers, do you have any secret, or not so secret, talents? If so, what are they?
I played a mean clarinet in high school – pretty sure if I had access to one I could pick it up and play a tune or two.

What do you do in your spare time?
Take care of my 1 year old daughter Savannah.

One of 1800Flowers’ main missions is to deliver smiles. What makes you smile?
Seeing my beautiful girl learn something new daily – puts life into perspective.

What is your favorite food type/dish and dessert?
Italian – anything Italian my mom cooks up!

Who or what is your biggest inspiration and why?
My Mom. She is such an amazing woman. If I could be ½ the mother, wife and friend she is would be wonderful.

What rule do you live by?
Treat others as you would like to be treated.

What is your favorite song and/or who is your favorite musical artist?
Dave Matthews Band

What are your favorite movies and TV programs (past or present)?
American Idol, Glee, So You Think You Can Dance.

What is your favorite quote?
Life is like a box of chocolates – you never know what you’re going to get.

What is your favorite city to visit and why?
Los Angeles. I went to college in Los Angeles. It was such an amazing and beautiful time in my life. One of my besties still lives there so any chance I get to go for a visit (business or pleasure) always either starts or ends with a visit with her.
