What is your title and what do you do at 1-800-Flowers? My name is Kailey Ruszkowski and I am an Associate Manager, Enterprise Public Relations at 1-800-Flowers.com. I’ve been with the company for one year and three months. The thing I like best about my job at 1-800-Flowers.com, and about the Public Relations industry in general, is that every single day is different – in a good way. One day our team could be huddled together in a brainstorm, pitching magazine editors and hosting a media event, while the next day might be spent in NYC with our executives on a national television show.
“Our Christmas tree is decked out with ornaments from my childhood”Our Christmas motto is to “celebrate Christmas with a smile!” What about Christmas makes you smile? The fact that Christmas encourages the simple act of giving, celebrating and fellowship across the country makes me smile. Imagine if the joyful spirit of the holiday season lasted all year round! What is your favorite Christmas tradition to make for a truly traditional holiday? My favorite Christmas tradition involves most of what happens on Christmas Eve. The girls in our family spend some of the evening baking before heading to a Christmas Eve service at our local church, where we celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. Our entire family then gathers at my aunt’s house for food, games, desserts, gifts and most importantly, to enjoy each other’s company. 1800Flowers is all about holiday decorations. Tell us about your Christmas decorations. My family keeps it simple and traditional with our Christmas decorations. We are no Griswold Family, that’s for sure! However, we do have a few staple pieces of décor that we enjoy. Our Christmas tree is decked out with ornaments from my childhood, to the most recent Disney collectibles. The Ruszkowski’s always enjoy a good quality wreath that we hang on the front window of our home, all lit up. Lastly, my personal favorites are the handmade porcelain reindeer that my grandma painted beautifully years ago. Tell us your favorite Christmas story from Christmas pasts. My favorite story from Christmas past is spending the day in New York City with my dad, mom and sister. Our parents treated us to a fun-filled day of visiting the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, ice skating, shopping, dinner and tickets to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular with The Rockettes. What is your favorite Christmas gift to receive? My colleagues and close friends won’t be surprised by this gift, because it’s my favorite all year round – anything and everything chocolate! I’ve always been a chocolate lover, and I definitely enjoy indulging during the holiday season. Get me anything from Fannie May, pair it with our Fields of Europe™ for Christmas floral arrangement, and you can find me enjoying both by the fire!
