What is your title and what do you do at 1-800-Flowers?
I am the Senior Manager for Website Marketing. I am responsible for the front-end user experience & merchandising of the 1800flowers.com website. I have been with the company since June 2012.
1-800-Flowers’ main mission is to deliver smiles. What about being a Mom makes you smile?
Everything about it. I am a fairly new mom…my baby is 16 months old. There is no greater happiness than watching her grow…her smiles, giggles and laughs make my heart smile.
At 1-800-Flowers we’re all about creating truly original arrangements. What makes your kid(s) truly original?
Haha….she has quite the personality at 16 months old! She loves music and loves to sing and dance. One of her most adorable traits is that she drops certain things on purpose, and then says uhhh-ohhhh. She is super smart, but knows when to play dumb!
Since this is our special Mother’s Day edition of the Employee Spotlight, what do you love most about Mother’s Day?
I think it’s wonderful to have a day dedicated to celebrating moms across the globe. Being a mother is my first and most important job, and it is hard work! It’s great to feel special and be recognized for earning this prestigious title!
My baby is 16 months old. There is no greater happiness than watching her grow…her smiles, giggles and laughs make my heart smile.
What is your favorite Mother’s Day gift from 1-800-Flowers and why?
The Two dozen Multi Roses are my absolute favorite 1-800-Flowers.com gift! I love roses and I love bright colors, plus they remind me of my daughter, who is as vibrant and gorgeous as these beautiful flowers! (dear hubby, please take note)
“MOM Means So Much” is our Mother’s Day motto. What about your mom means/meant the most to you?
My mother’s unconditional love and support means the world to me. My mother has always been the pillar of strength for me and my family. I can only hope to be as amazing a role model for my daughter as my mother is to me.
Tell us your favorite mom story.
There are so many, but my favorite is when my mom came all the way from India to drop me off at college in England. She helped me settle into my dorm room, stocked me up on food, clothes and everything I could possibly need for the coming years. We spent a wonderful week of quality time bonding, cooking and laughing together. When it was time for her to fly back, she couldn’t stop tears from rolling down her eyes, whereas I couldn’t wait to be independent and explore life on my own! Now that I’m a mom, I know exaclty how she felt (tears rolling down my eyes as I write this….)
What is your favorite flower or plant and why?
My favorite flower is the majestic rose. Not only is it elegant & beautiful, it smells divine. It comes in so many different colors and varieties so I’m never out of options. It is the perfect flower for any occasion!
What is the most valuable thing you have learned about flowers and plants during your time here?
During my time here, I have learned to appreciate flowers and plants and the important role they play in connecting people. In the age of “virtual” and “digital” everything, nothing makes me feel more human and lively as a vibrant bouquet of colorful, fragrant flowers. I don’t have a green thumb, but since I’ve been here, I am tempted to have my own little garden!
