MS SharePoint Developer/Admin
Location: Carle Place, NY
Position Type: Full-Time

Summary

The MS SharePoint Developer/Admin is responsible for deploying, optimizing, and maintaining critical MS SharePoint based systems to ensure maximum uptime, security and efficient operation. As well as assist in the design, and architecting of new SharePoint applications and services including creating custom workflows on demand.

SharePoint Developer Responsibilities

  • Provide full life-cycle support for the development of SharePoint applications in MOSS 2007 / 2010
  • Participate in SharePoint project initiatives to deploy new functionality and/or enhance existing SharePoint functionality
  • Participate in SharePoint project initiatives to deploy new functionality and/or enhance existing SharePoint functionality
  • Deploy and maintain document automations / workflows
  • Writes and maintains documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections
  • Develop/Maintain IT internal control workflows and systems
  • Continuously works to enhance Security/Compliance/Audit processes

SharePoint Admin Responsibilities

  • Provides 24x7 on-call support for SharePoint in rotation with other team members
  • Provide third level user assistance
  • Configuring and supporting the day-to-day system management tasks such as trouble-shooting, backup management and performance tuning
  • Maintains system stability, performance monitoring, security, and storage capacity requirements.
  • Installation and maintenance of Plug-ins, Feature, Web parts, Templates and custom software
  • Identify hardware and software platform issues and work with System Admins to implement proper patches and updates
  • Performance tuning and recommend performance improvements
  • Monitor and support third party services, applications (web services, client applications) and other service provider data interfaces
  • Creating and managing a backup plan for critical SharePoint data
  • Managing a SharePoint development server
  • Other duties as assigned by Management

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Information Technology or Computer Science
  • 5+ years of SharePoint (SP) development experience with at least one year of that being with SP 2010
  • A solid understanding of core Active Directory principles and technology
  • 4-6 years of general MS SharePoint development and administrative experience
  • 2+ years of Nintex experience or similar third party workflow solution
  • Experience configuring a SharePoint-based extranet platform
  • Experience with VMWare and/or Hyper-V virtualization technologies
  • SharePoint development should include asp.net integration with SharePoint, development of SharePoint web parts, and InfoPath development
  • Experience with Windows 2008 / Windows 2003 Server environments, IIS administration, XML, InfoPath, MOSS Business Data Catalog and BCS configuration, Excel Services, Search Service Applications
  • Experience configuring a SharePoint -based extranet platform
  • In depth knowledge of security principals
  • Microsoft SQL Server Database, Analysis, Integration and Reporting
  • Experience migrating from 2007 to 2010
  • Experience with Change Management / Change Control Boards

Security & Compliance Responsibilities

  • SharePoint user and group management
  • Creating and maintaining custom permissions which reflect a "principle of least privilege" methodology.
  • Ensuring correct department access and prevention of "permission creep"
  • Reviewing and scheduling monthly Microsoft security updates
  • Developing and implementing a plan for mining SharePoint stored data for sensitive information

Communication/Reporting Responsibilities

  • Ensures effective communication and collaboration between IT & Business functions

Training

  • Responsible for providing training, mentoring, leadership and guidance on a regular basis
  • Shows a commitment to continual self-improvement in order to learn and stay current with compliance methodologies, processes/best practices, and related technologies â?? shares information gained with co-workers. Has a passion for technology.
