What's The Story?
One of the most popular flowers in Central America, the poinsettia is also one of the most beloved of all Christmas flowers. Legend has it that two poor Mexican children needed a present to give to the baby Christ at their village's annual Nativity play, but couldn't afford even the most simplest of gifts. They walked to the church service looking for some blossoms along the road but were only able to pick some wild weeds. Mocked by the other children, the two little ones bravely placed the greenery around the manger and to their surprise, bright red star-shaped flowers burst forth from the weeds. And their gift, the first poinsettia, was the most beautiful of all the gifts received that day.
