Fiesta This Fall with Sangria! Sangria is a Spanish wine punch that is refreshing on a crisp fall day. Fresh fruit is a key ingredient to a winning Sangria recipe and with fresh fall apples and strawberries, this "adults only" beverage is as easy and breezy as a Autumn.
1 bottle of red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Rioja reds, Zinfandel, Shiraz)
1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
1 shot of Peach flavored Brandy (optional)
2 Cups of Ginger ale or Club Soda
2 to 3 cups of chopped fresh fruit (apples, oranges, strawberries, peaches, pears? whatever you have on hand)
A large glass pitcher large enough to hold everything.
Squeeze the juice from the lime and set aside.
Chop the fresh fruit into thin slices and cubes. Leave a few thin slices aside for garnish later.
Put the fruit in the pitcher, add the sugar and lime juice, brandy, soda and pour in the wine. Mix all of the ingredients together, and place in the refrigerator to chill.
Garnish glasses with fruit slices, pour sangria over ice and enjoy.
Sangria can be chilled overnight and served the next day. If you prefer, substitute white wine for red for a fresh, lighter tasting Sangria.
