Erin Mullane, an email marketing intern here at 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, shares her internal perspective. Here is a summary of Erin’s internship experience in her own words:
“My name is Erin Mullane and I am going to be a junior at Providence College this fall. The experience from my first summer internship at 1-800-FLOWERS.COM in 2012 taught me so much about the marketing field, I decided to return for a second summer! This summer I am interning with the email marketing department, which is different from the retail marketing department that I worked with last year.. While working with the email team I have had the opportunity to sit in on meetings with many departments including merchandising and creative. These collaborative meetings ensure the emails are flawless and ready to be sent out to 1-800-FLOWERS.COM subscribers.
It was astounding to see how much work and time goes into perfecting the emails weeks before they are going to be sent out. The email team prepares new email campaigns in advance by analyzing how various email campaigns performed in previous years and the current competitive landscape. This experience at 1-800-FLOWERS.COM has given me an immense amount of real world knowledge that will be extremely useful when I graduate college in two years!”
