Director of Corporate Development
Location: Greater New York City Area

As a part of its aggressive growth strategy, 1-800-FLOWERS.COM is proactive in identifying and acting on potential acquisition opportunities, strategic alliances, and other business opportunities that can further leverage its existing infrastructure and customer relationships and that will be accretive to both top and bottom line results.

The Director, Corporate Development will be an integral member of the senior management team and as such will evaluate and pursue growth strategies for the Company, to include: assessing potential acquisition targets, executing acquisitions and/or commercial relationship, and ensuring their smooth integration, further developing 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, Inc. as a globally recognized brand.

Reporting Relationship

The Director, Corporate Development will report to the Head of our Corporate Development Department. This person will work closely with the senior management team in all areas of the Company.


The ideal candidate for this position will be a passionate and insightful professional with extensive corporate development and merger and acquisition acumen. He or she should have experience in developing and administering complex business relationships resulting in acquisitions and alliances. 1-800-FLOWERS.COM continues to look for companies that will allow them to expand and deepen relationships with existing customers as their resource, providing products for all of their celebratory and connective occasions. The company's success to be the world's most thoughtful gifting company will be based on their ability to grow organically as well as to successfully acquire and merge new entities. Ideally, candidates should have experience in executing transactions ranging in size with a special focus of deals in the $5 to $30 Million range.

More specifically, this individual will:

  • have exceptional competency in negotiation, persuasion and influence
  • experience in collaborating with Senior Executives to enhance growth strategies, develop targeted acquisition approaches and/or new commercial relationships.
  • be able to nurture relationships with targets, leading negotiations and closing transactions
  • be a visionary
  • possess strong strategic and analytical skills
  • have the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
  • possess strong leadership qualities
  • be a high energy team player
Although tenure alone will not be the driving characteristic, we would expect a minimum of ten years of successful and progressive business experience with strong educational credentials. MBA or CPA is highly desirable for this position.

Prior experience in private equity, investment banking or with an M&A group would be preferable.
