Hi, I’m Chris McCann, President of 1-800-Flowers.com®. As a florist, I know firsthand the positive impact a smile can have, and it’s my privilege to be in the business of helping people deliver smiles day after day, by offering truly original arrangements and gifts that let you express yourself perfectly.
When it comes sending smiles, I think community plays a big part. Ever hear the expression, “Smile and the world smiles with you?” Whether it’s around the corner or around the globe, there are more ways than ever for us to connect with others.
There are virtual communities that seem to grow every day. Social networks like Facebook and Google+ allow us to reach out to old friends and make new ones. Mobile technology and tablets are so advanced nowadays that there are endless communities right at our fingertips.
Getting out in the local communities is at the heart of what we do. Whether it’s helping out a neighbor, donating time and effort to a nearby shelter, or shopping at a neighborhood florist, there are few things more rewarding than seeing someone smile in person. We’ve even developed our Imagine the Smiles program with this in mind–celebrating people throughout our communities who are deserving of a smile.
I’ll never forget the joy I felt the first time I made a customer smile back in our original New York City flower shop. After they left, I turned to my brother Jim and told him how lucky we were to be in a business where we can help people express themselves to the people they care about–the smile business. And over 35 years later, we’re still delivering smiles.
