We’ve teamed up with non-profit organization, No Kid Hungry, to make sure hungry children have access to food. Our new series, Growing Up Hungry, is all about providing eye-opening facts, real life stories, and sharing resources on the many ways you, too, can get involved during this difficult time

No child deserves to grow up hungry. Today, almost half of American families are living with hunger, and the number of children facing hunger nearly doubled during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, 1 in 4 children are at risk for going hungry due to the health crisis. To help feed families, 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, Inc. has teamed up with non-profit organization, No Kid Hungry.

1 in 4 children are at risk for going hungry.

No Kid Hungry is a national campaign run by Share Our Strength, a non-profit working to solve hunger and poverty around the world. After 25 years of successfully investing in local non-profits and helping find the best approaches to eradicating poverty and hunger, Share Our Strength launched No Kid Hungry in 2010.

When No Kid Hungry started, the number of children facing hunger was 1 in 4. Since then, significant progress was made to fight childhood hunger. In September 2019, the number of children facing hunger was down to 1 in 7. Now, it’s back to 1 in 4, meaning we lost all that ground in less than six months.

Here at 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, INC., we believe in giving back. We’re actively engaged in volunteer, philanthropic, and charitable programs aimed at supporting communities and empowering the individuals who help comprise them. We’ve partnered with No Kid Hungry to make sure children have access to the food they need.

How our employees are supporting hungry families in their communities

Our Harry & David brand is a leader in its Medford, Oregon, community when it comes to giving back to local charities, including food banks. This beloved food and gift brand is ready to make a difference in the lives of hungry children, as are all the brands in our company.

“Last year alone we donated almost 788,000 pounds of product to those who need it most.”

Rhonda Klug, Community Relations, Harry & David

“We work with many food banks and assistance centers, primarily in Oregon and Ohio where we have distribution centers, to donate on a monthly basis,” said Rhonda Klug, who leads community relations for Harry & David. “Last year alone we donated almost 788,000 pounds of product to those who need it most,” she said.
