McCann Family Famous Rice Pudding

Recipe Courtesy of Jim McCann, Founder This is a McCann tradition and a dish that Jim always looks forward to each holiday season. Try it for yourself and see how easy it is to bring an old-fashioned favorite to your holiday table. Makes 6-8 servings


  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1 1/4 cup cooked rice, cooled
  • 1 cup seedless raisins
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • Dash of nutmeg


  1. Combine eggs, sugar and salt in a bowl and mix well. Gradually add milk, rice, raisins, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  2. Pour into a buttered 1-quart casserole dish.
  3. Set casserole dish in shallow pan and pour hot water in pan until it reaches 1inch in depth.
  4. Bake at 325 F for 1 1/2 hours or until set.


Joe’s Kickin’ Christmas Chili

This recipe makes 4 quarts of delicious chili—enough to feed your entire family during the hectic holiday season! Make approximately 4 quarts


  • 2 pounds ground beef (chuck preferred)
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 large white onion, diced
  • 1 8-ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1 16-ounce can tomato paste
  • 1 24-ounce can whole tomatoes, chopped (without the liquid)
  • 1 8-ounce jar green chili salsa
  • 1 4-ounce can green chili peppers, chopped
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 12-ounce can pinto beans
  • 1 12-ounce can red kidney beans
  • 1 12-ounce can black beans
  • 3 12-ounce bottles or cans of beer (golden preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon hot red pepper sauce
  • 2 pounds cheddar cheese, grated

Seasoning Mixture

  • 5 tablespoons chili powder
  • 3 tablespoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • 2 teaspoons oregano
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoons fresh-ground black pepper


  1. Combine all the seasoning mixture ingredients in a small bowl and set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, brown the meats together over medium heat.
  3. Add the onion and half of the seasoning mixture.
  4. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions get soft.
  5. Drain the excess oil from the pan and set the meats aside.
  6. In a large pot, combine the tomato sauce, salsa, chili peppers, tomato paste, whole tomatoes, beef stock, beans, beer, and red pepper sauce. Mix well.
  7. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer, stirring often, for 15 minutes.
  8. Stir in the browned meat and the rest of the seasoning mixture. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 2 1/2 hours.
  9. Stir in the cheddar cheese, and continue simmering for another half hour.
  10. Serve hot, in warmed bowls if possible, and enjoy!

Stick to Your Teeth Chocolate Cookies

  • 2 1-ounce squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup graham cracker crumbs, finely ground
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 24 shelled walnut halves


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Using a double boiler, melt the chocolate in a medium-sized bowl. Add the milk and stir until the mixture thickens, approximately 5 minutes.
  3. Remove the bowl from the heat and add the crumbs, salt, nuts, and vanilla. Stir until well-combined. Work quickly, as the mixture will become stiff.
  4. Using a spoon, drop the mixture into rounded teaspoons onto a prepared greased cookie sheet.
  5. Place half a walnut on top of each cookie.
  6. Place cookies in the oven and bake for 10 minutes.
  7. Remove cookies from oven and quickly transfer onto waxed paper to cool.


Savannah Cheesecake Cookies

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 stick butter, melted


  • Two 8-ounce packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla or almond extract
  • Fresh berries and mint leaves, for garnish


  1. Preheat oven to 350 F.
  2. Combine flour, brown sugar, pecans, and butter in bowl.
  3. Press crust dough into an ungreased 13 inch by 9 inch by 2 inch pan. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until lightly browned.
  4. For filling, beat cream cheese and granulated sugar together in a bowl until smooth, using a handheld electric mixer. Add eggs and extract, and beat well.
  5. Pour over crust.
  6. Bake for 20 minutes.
  7. Cool completely. Cut into squares before serving.
  8. Decorate tops with berries and mint leaves.
