Best Birthday Gifts for Libra

The shift from summer to fall on the calendar mirrors a change in the zodiac as well. It’s when the period of Libra begins.

For Libras, it’s not about the price — it’s about the quality.

Astrologist and best-selling author

The start of Libra season is marked by the autumn equinox — this year, Sept. 22 — a day when the sun is directly above the equator and there are equal hours of sunlight and darkness (much like the spring equinox).

It’s a time of year when, historically, people prepared for the harvest, says astrologist and best-selling author Lisa Stardust.

“It’s an abundant time, a romantic time — that’s why fall is often marked by getting cozier, sitting by the fireplace,” she says. “We have this airy, intellectual energy that occurs when the air gets a little chillier. We’re harvesting fruits and vegetables, and we’re getting ready to store things for the winter.”

It’s no coincidence, then, that the vibe this time of year is distinctly that of the Libra sign.

What to know about Libras

Libra is one of three air signs in the zodiac, along with Gemini and Aquarius. Represented in symbols by the scales, Libras are the pinnacle of balance. Because of this, they have a strong fixation on harmony.

“Libras are known for their peaceful, harmonious attitude; they’re ruled by scales, so that means everything needs to be pretty even-keeled,” Stardust says. “Libras usually hate when things are off-center; they’re all about fairness and [having] everything in order. If one part of their scale is too tipped over, that’s when they begin to have a lot of problems.”

Interestingly, the Libra scale is the only non-living symbol in the zodiac. This could mean people born under this sign are a bit more calculated and that they process emotion differently.

“It makes sense,” Stardust says, “because they’re the only sign that is an inanimate object.”

Libras are known to be very intelligent and airy, Stardust says. They are also highly opinionated when it comes to objects of beauty.

“Venus is the planet of love and art, and Libras are a cardinal air sign ruled by Venus,” she says. “It’s thought that Libras are here to be the critics of the things that Venus creates.”

What are the best birthday gifts for Libra?

Simply put, Libras love the opportunity to put on and impress. They love a bottle of expensive Champagne they can show off at a party, a bath or body product that’s made with only the finest ingredients , or an impressive piece of art they can put on display in their home.

But for every luxury item Libras gravitate toward, Stardust says, they’ll also love something that shows restraint.

“With Libras, it’s all about the equilibrium,” Stardust says. “They have two distinct sides that are focused on balancing each other out: Where one side is interested in extravagance, the other side is interested in pinching pennies.”

It is these conflicting qualities that lead them to seek out the highest-quality goods at the best value available.

“For Libras, it’s not about the price — it’s about the ingredients,” Stardust says. “They’ll happily buy a $50 lip salve, but not because it’s $50. They’ll want it because it has top-notch ingredients.”

In other words, she says, it’s not just about something being expensive — whatever they buy (or receive) actually has to be worth the money.

Go-to birthday gifts for Libra

If you’re ready to start your search for the perfect present for the Libra in your life, the options below are winners, Stardust says.

Something sweet and salty

Libras love luxurious foods, especially those that offer a contrast in flavor. “They’re people who would enjoy a combination like a rich salami and a pineapple — something that gives them that balance of sweet and salty,” she says. It makes sense; Libras are, after all, about harmonious balance. And don’t underestimate how great a high-quality wine will go over with Libras, either.

Something high quality for their bath routine

While not necessarily vain, Libras are into maintaining their appearance. As such, Libras love gifts centered on health and beauty, such as skin, bath, and hair products. Things like luxury soaps and fragrancesbath bombs, and spa gift baskets will all be happily received.

Something artsy and modern

Libras enjoy prized objects they can put on their shelves and admire. For that reason, you would do well with getting them an artistic gift for their home, such as a beautiful vase, bar cart, or stunning set of drinkware in which they can serve their favorite cocktails.

Something beautiful

With their affinity for all things beautiful, flowers are a good match for Libra. Stardust suggests roses and bluebells.

According to her, bluebells — or any blue flower — represent peace and balance, an important piece of the puzzle for Libras. And roses, being the flower of Venus, are also a great option.

Something fashionable

Libras, Stardust says, are very into fashion, and know how to make an outfit pop. And, as you would expect, they always have a balanced look — one that’s never over the top but never boring.

“A Libra would probably be the one wearing a sequin dress with minimal makeup and jewelry to ensure the balance is at the heart of the look,” Stardust says.

Something that fits their style — even if it’s just a bathrobe or pair of socks — could make your Libra very happy on their birthday.

Best Birthday Gifts for Virgos

When buying a birthday gift for someone, you want your present to be meaningful, welcomed, and, of course, appreciated. A great way to check all those boxes is by looking to the recipient’s zodiac sign.

Virgos love their aesthetic. With a lot of them, they’re into clear, vibrant colors and styles, so, often, everything is white.

Lisa Stardust

Astrologist and best-selling author

lisa stardust headshot

That’s according to New York City-based astrologist and best-selling author Lisa Stardust. She says zodiac signs can offer insight into people’s personality traits, perspectives, and preferences — in other words, they are an incredibly useful guide for gifting.

“Knowing someone’s likes and dislikes based on astrology can help you find their ultimate gift,” she says. “We can get a window into what they’ll be into based on their cosmic attributes and use that information to calculate the best gift.”

If you’re on the hunt for a birthday gift for the Virgo in your life (Aug. 23-Sept. 22), this guide can help.

What to know about Virgos

Virgo is the sixth sign of the zodiac and the second earth sign, following Taurus. Stardust notes that Virgos are usually analytical, energetically absorbent, and factual — if you tell them a story, they’re the type to try to “suss the facts out of it.”

One thing that’s special about Virgo is that it’s a mutable sign. Like Gemini, Sagittarius, and Pisces, Virgo ends one of the four seasons. This, Stardust says, means they tend to be more flexible, laid back, and comfortable with change.

“Virgos are low maintenance, patient, and very chill,” Stardust says. “You know until they’re not. Virgos are incredibly patient and will remain patient until they’re pushed to their limit for the ninth or 10th time.”

What kinds of birthday gifts do Virgos like?

When it comes to gifts, Stardust says, Virgos are all about lush green plantsflowersrelaxation-style giftsspecial things that are just for themand snuggly things they can curl up with.

virgo gifts with women reading book and drinking coffee

“Virgos love their aesthetic,” Stardust says. “With a lot of them, they’re into clear, vibrant colors and styles, so, often, everything is white.”

Virgos tend to love a good book, a delightful glass of wine, and anything else that can help put them in their comfort zone, Stardust says. From a great cup of coffee they can pour for themselves every morning to a fluffy robe they can put on every evening to relax, Virgos are very into their ritualistic routines.

But why?

“Virgos are ruled by the planet Mercury,” she says. “Mercury influences Virgos and explains their love for routine and ritual. The joke is always that signs ruled by Mercury — like Virgos and Geminis — are the only signs that would be OK living their whole life in the place they grew up. They like the community, the familiarity, and the ritual of it all.”

Go-to Virgo gifts for birthdays

Ready to shop for the perfect Virgo-approved birthday gift? Stardust says options like the five below are sure to make the Virgo in your life happy.

Something simple and delicious

Virgos can be picky about their food, Stardust admits. But she also says that whenever she’s gifted a Virgo an assortment of thoughtfully selected treats, they’ve gone over well. A beautiful, delicious, and, of course, on-brand-with-their-aesthetic collection of yummy foods can be a total win for a Virgo birthday gift. Stardust suggests keeping it clean, simple, and tasty with something like these Sunny Day Drizzled Strawberries.

Something to help them relax

Virgos like things that are all their own, so a personalized beach towel or soft, fluffy white towel is a great option. They are also big on relaxation, which is why it would be perfect to pair one of those gifts with a bath bomb, a bath salt, or something fragrant they can include in their nightly, unwinding bath ritual. And since lavender is the essence of Mercury, anything lavender scented is a great gift option.

Something from the earth

virgo gifts with women holding bouquet of daisies

As an earth sign, it makes sense that Virgos would love flower arrangements and plants — but not just any kind. When considering a gift in this area, go for bouquets that include daisies and chrysanthemums, Stardust advises. For that matter, any flower or plant that comes in white, such as a lily or gardenia, can make the list, too.

Something luxurious

Since Virgos are creatures of habit and tend to like things that make them feel special, think about getting them a gift that could enhance their nighttime routine. That could be anything from wine to soft sheets to fancy blankets to plush slippers.

Something soft and fluffy to wear

Virgos love to be comfortable, and that means loungewear. A soft, fluffy (and white, of course!) robe is always a wonderful idea for Virgos, Stardust says. Adding a little personalized touch, such as their name, is a great choice, too.

Why August Is the Best Month for Birthdays

August, named after the Latin term for “majestic and magnificent,” is summertime’s glorious victory lap. The warmest season always flies by, but, after two months of non-stop fun in the sun, August grants us one last chance to stop and smell the flowers before school resumes and business ramps back up. (There’s a reason National Lazy Day is Aug. 10 and National Relaxation Day is Aug. 15.)

august birthdays with friends having party in swimming pool

August is also a fine month for a birthday — no major holidays to compete with, summer vacations are mostly winding down, we get extra-long periods of daylight, and of the three summer months, August tends to have the least rainfall. And as birthday gifts go, we’ll let you in on a little secret: August is absolute prime time for receiving great presents, that sweet spot on the calendar when we find late-summer clearance sales and new products for fall (and even winter) start hitting the shelves.

But, August babies, it gets even better. You possess some invaluable natural gifts that can’t be wrapped.

August babies are positively lucky

august birthdays with baby playing happily under an umbrella

Nothing beats a lucky streak and the happiness that accompanies it. A European study found those born in the summer months, and August especially, were significantly more likely to consider themselves lucky in life. Another survey links the feeling of luck with less anxiety and neuroticism, and a greater level of outgoing behavior.

Vanderbilt University also found those with August birthdays are less likely to develop depression than those born in the cooler months. Why? Scientists theorize that because mothers who give birth in August are exposed to high levels of vitamin D (aka the “sunshine vitamin”) during the last stages of their pregnancy — a result of the season’s extended daylight hours — their newborn’s “biological clock” may be permanently, and positively, altered.

August babies are healthier in mind and body

Not only are August-born individuals naturally more positive, but they have also been found less likely to suffer from bipolar disorder and schizophrenia than those born in any other month — again thanks to the vitamin D boost they receive from extended exposure to daylight experienced by late-term summer mothers. Furthering that concept, a study in Denmark also found that babies with low vitamin D levels at birth were more likely to develop schizophrenia later in life. Physical benefits abound too: Studies suggest summer babies have the healthiest average birth weights and grow to be taller than most people. Girls born in the summer also tend to experience a later onset of puberty, which is associated with lower risks of breast and throat cancer.

August’s birth flowers honor and pay homage

August’s first birth flower is the gladiolus, or “sword lily,” a name based on the Latin translation of its genus name as well as its sword-shaped blooms. Native to South Africa, the flower made its way to Europe in the 1700s. Today, it blooms around the world in array of colors, each with a different meaning: A red sword lily declares the giver’s heart is “pierced with love,” yellow expresses warm-hearted compassion, pink is a sign of motherly love, and purple speaks to mysterious charm. The gladiolus also provides more than pretty petals: South Africans have used the sword lily’s roots, blooms, and seed sacs for centuries to treat colic, skin inflammations, and wound infections.

august birtdhays with young woman smelling a red poppy in flower meadow in summer sunset

The poppy, August’s second birth flower, was first cultivated in Mesopotamia nearly four millennia ago, for its pain-relieving properties. Ancient Romans and Greeks collected poppies to honor the dead, a tradition that continues today in this country — Americans wear and display the flower around Memorial Day to memorialize fallen U.S. soldiers.

Despite the poppy’s link to the concept of death, its message is less about mourning, and more about tribute and giving thanks. A vast variety of poppy shades exist, carrying subtle messages: Reds symbolize happiness, and purple poppies represent enchantment. White and cream stand for sympathy and condolence, and yellow conjures wishes of prosperity.

August’s zodiac signs are strong and sure

Leos (July 23–Aug. 22) are July’s natural-born performers and public speakers, and powerful ones at that. Like the sign’s symbol, the lion, a Leo can capture the attention of all around them with sounds that reach almost any volume. They won’t stop their act until everyone notices, but boy do they love the applause — a Leo lives to be showered with praise and admiration. If a Leo’s whole stage is taken, however, things could get loud, and should a Leo’s inner circle be disrespected, the lion’s full roar is on the way. They sure sound intimidating, but however wealthy or powerful, a Leo’s naturally bright smile and warm personality make them feel approachable to people of all ages and levels of society. Barack Obama, Kylie Jenner, Mick Jagger, and Martha Stewart are just a few well-known Leos.

August also births Virgos (Aug. 23–Sept. 22), a practical gang of problem solvers with a thing for modesty and independence — quite a refreshing attitude to encounter in a world of pride and glitz. The typical Virgo lives by logic and practicality, making life choices that leave little to chance. Being meticulous certainly isn’t a bad thing, though Virgos must remember that keeping unreachable ideals can lead to burnout, and applying personal sky-high standards to friends and partners can lead to unfair judgment. Thankfully, the inherently gentle and supportive Virgo nature tends to outshine its critical tendencies. A Virgo’s desire to share and build can make them wonderful teachers, musicians, and doctors. Famous Virgos include Beyoncé, Keanu Reeves, Amy Poehler, Michael Jackson, and Salma Hayek.

Best Zodiac Plants for Each Astrological Sign

You’ve heard of using astrology to find a romantic match. But did you know your zodiac sign can also help you find the perfect plant? It’s true. 1-800-Flowers.com teamed with the astrology experts at Sanctuary, a company that offers daily personalized horoscopes, live birth chart readings, and on-demand astrologers, to guide you to what plants are the best match for each sign’s traits.

Room with best plants for zodiac gift guide

“When choosing plants to bring into your space, it’s a good idea to consider the needs of the plant as well as your own needs,” says Haley Houseman, creative director for Sanctuary. “Choosing plants that suit your temperament is the surest way to keep both of you happy.”

The experts suggest thinking about plants the way you think about people: “If you’re interested in a plant whose lifestyle runs counter to yours, you might want to invest a little more energy in the surroundings of your plant, just the way you might have to invest more energy in an unconventional friendship or a romantic match,” Houseman says.

But don’t sweat it if you are a Libra who is obsessed with orchids, the pick for Leos. “There are no ‘bad’ plants or ‘bad’ signs — astrology gives you clues to how best accommodate every sign’s unique aspects to help them thrive, just like the care instructions on your new plant,” Houseman adds.

Read on for the perfect zodiac plants chosen for each sign by the astrology gurus at Sanctuary.

Guide to zodiac plants

photo of zodiac plants with glass succulent terrarium for aries

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

Attributes: Independent, secure, leader

Plant: Succulents in Glass Terrarium

Succulents are strong and unique; so, too, is Aries. There’s no hidden agenda here: The see-through container holding these plants lets you see exactly what is on the inside, matching perfectly with Aries’ straightforward and hardworking personality. Just like Aries is a self-starter and wants to run the show, these succulents will last and don’t require a lot of work.

photo of zodiac plants with peace lily plant for taurus

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

Attributes: Pragmatic, sensual, reliable

Plant: Peace Lily Plant

The Peace Lily Plant is gorgeous, its greens and snow-white flowers lending an air of both sturdiness and beauty. “A home-loving Taurus might look to curate a perfect setting and be ready to invest in a plant that enjoys the more luxurious side of life,” Houseman says. A Taurus uses his senses more than the other signs, taking in scents and smells, and noticing the way things feel. This thriving plant will appeal to this sign since it is simultaneously hardy and beautiful.

photo of zodiac plants with snake plant for gemini

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

Attributes: Brainy, articulate, persuasive

Plant: Snake Plant (Sansevieria)

Just as Geminis can rebound from situations and not get affected by adversity, so, too, does the Sansevieria. A hardy, vertical-growing plant with variegated leaves, the Snake Plant is easy to keep healthy for the busy and social Gemini. “An easily distracted Gemini needs something low maintenance,” Houseman says.

photo of zodiac plants with aloe vera plant for cancer

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

Attributes: Loving, caring, family-oriented, strong business acumen

Plant: Aloe Vera Plant

Aloe plants aren’t just cool, they actually cool! The substance inside the plant is used as a soothing healing remedy for injures like cuts and burns. One can also take it internally for stomach issues; before you do, though, consult an expert. Since Cancers are known for being emotional and putting family first, having this plant in the sunroom is essential for this sensitive, empathetic individual.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

Attributes: Generous, ambitious, loyal, comfortable being the center of attention

Plant: Simply Elegant Orchid Garden

Orchids are a special plant, just like a Leo. They require attention, and they aren’t wallflowers. Need a gift? An orchid is a no-brainer option for this generous, giving sign.

photo of zodiac plants with maiden hair fern for virgo

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

Attributes: Kind, gentle, organized, reliable

Plant: Maiden Hair Fern

This pretty plant can take up to three years to grow to its full size, but to get it there, you need to make sure it is kept in a very humid environment. If anyone has the patience and traits to keep this plant healthy and growing, it’s the organized and dependable Virgo. “This plant is the best pick for this sign because it brings an opportunity to find alignment in routines and tasks,” says Sanctuary astrology expert Laura Beth Finley.

photo of zodiac plants with air plant terrarium for libra

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

Attributes: Balanced, fair, tasteful, intuitive

Plant: Airplant Terrarium

This airplant is a great choice for the air sign Libra. “It’s the perfect pick for this sign because it brings harmonious vibes to any space,” Finley says. With impeccable taste, a Libra will know just where to display this fun plant in their home. Hang it on a Christmas tree, balancing the orb on a branch, to symbolize Libra’s desire for all things in harmony.

photo of zodiac plants with marble queen pothos plant for scorpio

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

Attributes: Mysterious, loyal, secretive

Plant: Marble Queen Pothos Plant

The Pothos plant is easy to care for, and that’s great for a Scorpio who has bigger things percolating. With an attractive green and white variegated pattern, the Marble Queen clears the air in your home. Scorpio can even forget about watering it, as the plant likes its soil to go dry between waterings, but Scorpio’s compassionate soul needs to remember to put it in a light-filled spot.

photo of zodiac plants with majesty palm floor plant for sagittarius

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

Attributes: Wise, adventurous, generous, optimistic

Plant: Majesty Palm Floor Plant

The palm fronds on this impressive plant may recall travel memories — or goals — for wanderlust Sagittarius. Sag is too busy learning and philosophizing to do much more than keep these beautiful greens out of indirect sunlight. Yes, the plant needs misting, but Scorpios do so lovingly, longing to feel the humidity of a tropical destination.

photo of zodiac plants with juniper bonsai for capricorn

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

Attributes: Trustworthy, practical, sensible, hardworking

Plant: Juniper Bonsai

It’s tough to look at the bonsai tree without feeling zen and calm. Capricorn cares for these trees with the utmost responsibility, and benefits from the meditative state each one gives its owner. The bonsai lasts for years if well cared for, and Cap is one of the longest living signs of the zodiac. The plant is truly representative of this patient soul.

photo of zodiac plants with money tree grove for aquarius

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

Attributes: Intellectual, leader, humanitarian

Plant: Money Tree Grove

Aquarius is busy saving the world, so a plant that stays alive with little effort from its owner is just what this socially minded sign needs. The good fortune vibes from this tree grove (there are three) equate well with Aquarius’ desire to make a societal change, especially because the sign isn’t motivated by fortune and fame. “The braiding of the trunks exemplifies how Aquarians can powerfully bring together a community to unite for a greater cause. We don’t see a messy unification here but wise connectivity, leading to a strong foundation that would be hard for any outside influence to break apart,” says Sanctuary astrology expert Julia Modorsky.

photo of zodiac plants with red maranta prayer plant for pisces

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

Attributes: Caring, daydreamer, intuitive, imaginative

Plant: Red Maranta Prayer Plant

The red and green leaves of the Prayer Plant fold up like praying hands at night. For the Pisces who care so much about relieving the suffering of others, a plant paying homage to spirituality is a perfect match. The creative Pisces might be dealing with enacting change in the world, so a plant that can thrive without too much work will be a good match for this selfless member of the zodiac.

For all signs

Sanctuary reminds us that plants are similar to people — you can’t change them. If you aren’t equipped to care for a high-maintenance plant, choose a succulent. “Meeting your plants where they are and taking their needs into consideration is the best way to ensure a compatible match between your sign and your special plant pick,” Houseman says.

Zodiac Compatibility: Find the Best Gifts with Celestial Guidance

Whether you’re looking for romantic gift ideas or ways to make yourself feel loved, “Your Trusted Cupid” brings you top-notch advice from relationship experts. This story reviews zodiac compatibility and the perfect gift to give your loved one based on their sign.

Is your love written in the stars? Is falling in love as easy as plugging your birthday into Google and asking what’s the best zodiac match for your specific sign?

Zodiac compatibility is not that straightforward, says Sterling Bowen, astrology expert at Sanctuary, a company that offers daily personalized horoscopes, live birth chart readings, and on-demand astrologers. One way to improve your relationship with your partner is to learn which signs combine well across the four elements of our natural world: fire, earth, air, and water. Each element is assigned to three zodiac signs.

Your astrology is complicated — just like love!

Sterling Bowen

Astrologer

Sanctuary

By looking at the elements, you can get a sense of how best to work with each partner’s sign. The elements that pair well together have temperamental tendencies associated with them that balance out other qualities. Say, perhaps, as an air sign Gemini you tend to have trouble staying grounded. The steadiness of Capricorn, which is an earth sign, will help you with that.

But don’t sweat it if your relationship isn’t a love pair according to the elements. “A lot of what makes two people compatible is choosing to understand that it’s complicated,” says Bowen. “Ultimately communication and honesty are going to be your best tools. Some signs may have easier times doing that, but that’s part of learning about other people.”

So certain temperaments work together better than others, but there are no disastrous astrological relationships. “Your astrology is complicated — just like love!” he says.

Below, Sanctuary defines the temperamental tendencies associated with the four elements and which signs pair well. Once you know if Taurus, for example, is a good fit for Cancer, then you can take a peek at our list of perfect gifts for each star sign for Valentine’s Daybirthdaysanniversaries, or a “just because” celebration.

The elements and their signs

Fire: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius

Temperament: Energetic, motivated, passionate

Fire signs tend to act first, think later, so air signs can help keep them focused. “Water signs can be good partners to keep them from burning out,” says Bowen.

Pairs well with: Air (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) and Water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces).

Earth: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn

Temperament: Grounded, steady, stable

Earth signs might get stuck in a rut or miss opportunity when it presents itself.

Pairs well with: Fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) and Water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces).”Fire signs can be good matches to keep their thirst for life alive,” says Sanctuary’s Bowen. “Water signs can be good partners to help them appreciate change.”

Air: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius

Temperament: Cerebral, energetic, excellent communicators

Air signs can have their heads stuck in the clouds and don’t always live in the present.

Pairs well with: Earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) and Fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius). Earth signs will help keep them grounded and the Fire element zodiac signs will keep them living in the moment.

Water: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

Temperament: Emotive, feeling, intuitive

Water signs can have trouble staying grounded and in reality.

Pairs well with: Earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) and Air (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius). Earth signs will keep Water signs grounded and living in the present, while “Air signs can be good partners to keep their heads clear,” says Bowen.

Aries: March 21 – April 20

Flower: Honeysuckle

As the first sign in the zodiac, Aries signifies the start of something new. Aries are known for their youthful tendencies when it comes to interacting with the world around them — passionate, confident, and cheerful. With honeysuckle blooming in early spring — the season most associated with rebirth and new experiences — the two pair perfectly together! The lively reddish-pink color of the flower matches the fiery personality of an Aries.

Taurus: April 21 – May 21

Flower: Poppy

People born under the Taurus sign are strong, compassionate, and love being surrounded by love and natural beauty. Despite having beautiful blossoms, poppies are technically classified as weeds — they’re resilient, growing in even the most inhospitable landscapes. Just like a poppy flower, Tauruses stand their ground, especially on matters they’re passionate about, and exude beauty and positivity.

Gemini: May 22 – June 21

Flower: Lavender

Lavender’s exuberant appearance perfectly blends with a Gemini’s social and energetic nature. Lavender is known for its diverse uses, similar to a Gemini’s versatile personality. With a distaste for the bland and ordinary, lavender makes the perfect birthday present for the wonderfully unique Gemini in your life.

Cancer: June 22 – July 22

Flower: White rose

Cancers are known for being highly imaginative and emotional. Though they enjoy the adventure from time to time, Cancers find comfort in sticking to what they know. Like the delicate nature of people born under the feminine zodiac sign of Cancer, white roses are elegant, subtle, and universally adored. White roses symbolize purity and innocence, just like a Cancer’s sensitive nature. But, be gentle with this sign, because, just like their flower, they have a thorny side, too.

Leo: July 23 – August 22

Flower: Sunflower

Perhaps the only people more social and outgoing than Geminis are those born under the Leo sign. With their happy demeanor bringing a smile to everyone’s face they meet, it’s only natural that their flower is just as “sunny” as they are! Sunflowers get their loyal and bright characteristics from their tendency to turn their faces toward the sun. Similarly, Leos are not shy when it comes to stepping into the limelight and are attracted to being the center of attention.

Virgo: August 23 – September 23

Flower: Buttercup

Virgos may not always want to be the center of attention, but don’t let their shyness fool you. Once you get to know them, their fun-loving personality begins to show. Just like the subtly beautiful buttercup, Virgos are organized, neat, and enjoy (occasionally) blending into the background. The flowers most often symbolize neatness because of their sophisticated structure and design.

Libra: September 24 – October 23

Flower: Rose

Just like a classic rose, Libras are adored by everyone they meet. As a symbol of peace and love, roses perfectly complement a Libra’s passion for justice and strong sense of right and wrong. Libras can often mesh into any social atmosphere, as their calm demeanors and outgoing personalities can easily put a smile on anyone’s face, similar to the rose. Just like the Libra’s contagious warmth, roses also grow as weeds all around the world. They can’t help but spread the love everywhere they go!

Scorpio: October 24 – November 22

Flower: Geranium

Like the many petals of geraniums, Scorpios have many sides to them and never let anyone fully know what they’re thinking. Once you think you know a Scorpio, they’re quick to show you another, completely unexpected side of themselves. These symmetrical five-petal zodiac flowers grow in tight bunches, similar to a Scorpio’s tendency to keep a small circle of close friends and family around them. A Scorpio’s small circle will get to know a more sensitive side despite the outside world seeing them as a mystery. The geranium flower comes in many colors, just like Scorpios, so expect the unexpected from them.

Sagittarius: November 23 – December 21

Flower: Carnation

Like a carnation, those born under the sign of Sagittarius are strong yet beautiful. With Sagittariuses being known for their love of love, it makes sense that these zodiac flowers are paired with one of the most commonly chosen wedding flowers! Carnations are a symbol of love because they are often the longest lasting flowers in a bouquet. Sagittariuses are a fire sign, known for their adventurousness, just as a carnation blooms in branched or forked clusters. The fire sign does not like being tamed and will always carry an open mind in their endeavors.

Capricorn: December 22 – January 20

Flower: Pansy

Like a pansy, Capricorns seem to only get better with age! Known for being hardworking and tenacious, Capricorns enjoy showing off the fruits of their labor, similar to a newly sprung, showy pansy. Pansies are a popular bloom in the cooler months. The hardy plant can survive freezing conditions, unlike other plants that typically require sunny or partially sunny positions in well-draining soils. Capricorns, just like their zodiac flower, are warriors, even in the toughest conditions.

Aquarius: January 21 – February 19

Flower: Orchid

Don’t let an Aquarius’ shy demeanor fool you. While they can sometimes be quiet, they’re incredibly energetic and eccentric when around friends they trust. Plus, they’re wonderfully intelligent and diligent problem solvers. Naturally, a strong yet delicate-looking flower like the orchid makes the perfect gift for an Aquarius. The exotic shape of the plant aligns with the eccentric personality of an Aquarius. This sign may not be one to stand in the limelight, but they certainly don’t mind straying from the norm.

Pisces: February 20 – March 20

Flower: Water Lily

With their element being water and symbol being the two fish, perhaps no pair goes together better than a water lily and a Pisces. With a knack for art and all things whimsical, Pisces enjoy unique shows of affection. This water sign is known for being quite dreamy, imaginative, and sensitive. Their attitude for life is similar to the environment of water lilies — shallow ponds, lakes, and the edges of slow-moving streams. The charming Pisces is all about going with the flow.

Zodiac Sign Gifts: How to Pick the Perfect Gift for Every Sign

From winning gift ideas to card message suggestions, “Birthdays Reimagined” provides tips to help you make your loved one’s birthday wishes come true. This article offers ideas for the perfect Zodiac sign gifts.

Gift giving — many of us think of it as one of the greatest joys in life while others consider the act to be one of life’s greatest challenges.

The unique thing about gift-giving is that no matter who you are or how great you are at picking presents, the process can turn out to be sort of a double-edged sword. In other words, gift-giving can absolutely be something you love to do — but that doesn’t mean it can’t get tricky.

The ultimate tip for picking out the right present for a loved one, friend, colleague, partner, and beyond? Think about who they are. Someone’s personality and overall essence can be directly influenced by a lot of things — their hobbies, their careers, their values. But it can also be influenced by other crucial determiners.

One of them? Zodiac signs.

What are zodiac signs and what do they tell us about?

Zodiac signs — otherwise known as sun signs — are the 12 sectors of the ecliptic, the plane of Earth’s orbit around the sun. There are 12 zodiac signs that exist and can be pinpointed based on analyzing the projection of the position of the sun, moon, and planets at the moment of a specific person’s birth. All 12 signs belong to one of the four elements that exist: air, water, fire, and earth.

Zodiac sign gifts are perfect for all your astrology-loving friends and family. This image shows all 12 zodiac signs.

Though astrology and zodiac signs aren’t scientific determinants for someone’s personality, a lot of people believe that astrology and zodiac signs can help us all get a clearer picture of a person, what’s important to them, and what fits their personality.

The best zodiac sign birthday gift recommendations

Aquarius (January 20 – February 19)

Your air sign Aquarius is rational, communicative, social, and quite the smart cookie. Always a bit analytical, an Aquarius enjoys sentimentality so long as it’s balanced with a bit of social interaction.

Consider getting your Aquarius loved one a good book that’s been on their list for a while or a well-thought-out and well-planned surprise party with a few of their closest buddies.

Pisces (February 19 – March 21)

As a water sign, Pisces is typically an artistic dreamer with a wild, exciting, and spiritual or creative flair. They’re typically absorbed in their thoughts and spend much of their time with their heads above the clouds. Because they’re another sentimental sign, they’re at their happiest when their loved ones are showing them how well they know them and how much they care for them.

Consider gifting your Pisces a ticket to their favorite artist in concert, a collection of songs that remind you of them, a family photo from a treasured moment, or anything water-related (a trip to the ocean or a picnic by their favorite lake, for example). And, of course, a Pisces wish bracelet could make their dreams come true.

Aries (March 21 – April 20)

Our Aries friends are fire signs who love to be the life of the party. If there’s a way for them to be the center of attention, they’ll find it. Bold, ambitious, and fearless in many ways, Aries are ready to dive headfirst into almost any challenging situation. With this in mind, it makes sense that their zodiac symbol is a ram.

If you’ve got an Aries pal, the perfect zodiac sign gift is a getaway trip that gives them the chance to have an adventure, throwing them a large-and-in-charge birthday party where they get to be at the center of the hubbub or buying them a gorgeous piece of jewelry that they can show off to the world.

Taurus (April 20 – May 21)

This earth sign is all about relaxation and serenity. Taurus signs love soothing smells, succulent flavors, and any type of environment that allows them the chance to melt into themselves and what they love to do. If you have a Taurus in your life, remember that they’re highly affected by tastes and smells, so keep this in mind as you hunt for the perfect gift.

A low-stress cooking class that shows them how to make their favorite meal, a lovely and fragrant bouquet of flowers, or a delicious treat to tickle their Taurus taste buds are all excellent gifts.

Gemini (May 21 – June 21)

Geminis are air signs who are adaptive, outgoing, intelligent, and on occasion, sort of impulsive. Most Geminis are pretty curious, too, so they love to bend their brains and think hard when the situation calls for it.

Our suggestion for your Gemini’s zodiac sign gift? Because they’re naturally brainy, try gifting them something like puzzles, books, travel accessories, or even brain teasers.

Cancer (June 21 – July 23)

Intuitive and gracious, Cancers are water signs who have a hankering for being loved on, cared for, and pampered. As one of the more sentimental signs, Cancers are typically domestic, gentle, intelligent, and even-tempered. Cancers are bound to appreciate gifts that are less flashy and more substantial — but as long as it’s sentimental, you’re probably in the clear.

Try ideas like a spa day, a gift card to their favorite stylist, or a homemade gift that screams sentimentality, like their favorite flowers or a special, framed photo.

Leo (July 23 – August 23)

Vivacious and theatrical, this fire sign loves to bask in the spotlight. You can count on the Leo in your life to be a passionate and animated person who won’t shy away from a little extra attention. When it comes to Leos, they love to flash and fanfare, so no matter what you plan for your Leo, be sure the overall presentation is over-the-top.

Your Leo is sure to love fine jewelry that will turn heads, a flashy bouquet of flowers (delivered in a public setting, of course), a night on the town to celebrate, or tickets to their favorite form of entertainment (a sport’s game, a movie, a play, etc.).

Virgo (August 23 – September 23)

The Virgo in your life is practical, systematic, and logistical. It’s even highly possible that they’re the friend or loved one that you jokingly call a perfectionistThis earth sign tends to be very rooted in reality and pragmatic, so they’ll appreciate a gift that reflects those characteristics.

Don’t get something unnecessary or impractical for a Virgo — instead, try something they need, like a coffee gift basketbar tools, accessories that make their daily lives easier, homemade gifts, a blanket, and things that help keep them organized like removable shelves or briefcases.

Libra (September 23 – October 23)

Libras tend to be passionate, mysterious, and on a constant quest to seek balance and harmony in their lives. Because Libras are air signs, they tend to be a bit gentler.

Gift your Libra a collection of music filled with their favorite artists, gourmet goodies, delicious coffeewines, or home décor — just make sure you abide by the rule of balance for your Libra friends.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 22)

Scorpios are water signs that can’t get enough of intrigue and mystery. Most Scorpios are guaranteed to be passionate, powerful, and incredibly curious. Because they’re suckers for sentimentality, it’s likely any gift that combines a little intrigue with a lot of compassion is going to be a home run.

Your Scorpio loved one is bound to get a kick out of a stellar mystery novel from an author they love, a thriller movie marathon day, decadent treats, brain-stumping puzzles, and even a trip to your local escape room for an exciting and special experience.

Sagittarius (November 23 – December 22)

This sign is on a constant quest for knowledge, adventure, and thrills. The Sagittarius in your life probably loves surprises, spontaneity, and throwing the rule book to the wind now and again. With that description, it’s probably no surprise that Sagittarius is a fire sign — right?

Think about gifting Sagittarius a trip to an exotic, exciting location they’ve never been before, a travel accessory that they’ll use on adventures, or even a new journal to document all the beautiful things they see on their adventures. And, these adventurers love low-maintenance plants since they are always on the go.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 20)

Another earth sign that craves a little practicality is, Capricorns are simple, intentional, logical, and heavily invested in quality time with the people they care the most about. Another interesting thing about Capricorns is that they crave physical comfort alongside quality time, so it’s crucial to offer a balance of both to the Capricorn in your life.

Try gifting your loved one the ultimate, at-home birthday experience (whatever that looks like for them), a cozy blanket, a sentimental and personalized gift, or even a delicious treat that was created just for them. Acts of service also go a long way with Capricorns, so don’t underestimate how excellent something as simple as cleaning their house could be.

An astrologer’s input – Venus in the signs

Professional astrologer and author Moon Zlotnick says that while a zodiac sign can give insight into who a person is, it’s only a small part of the information that’s available about a person, so it’s pertinent to not make assumptions based on just this information.

“The sun signs in astrology can sometimes become an easy way to pigeonhole someone because we’re clumping these huge numbers of people who share a birth month and then we’re making generalizations,” Moon says. “As a practicing professional, there is definitely some legitimacy in that sign, but you’d also be in a better position if you know what sign their Venus is in, not just the zodiac sign.” In other words, a person’s Venus sign represents what they love and value, so it might be helpful to figure out what their Venus sign is, too.

Now that you know which birthday gifts to get based on someone’s zodiac sign, see which flower your zodiac sign represents!
