About The Plant Kween

Christopher Griffin, who uses they/she/he pronouns, is a Black queer non-binary femme based in Brooklyn, New York. They lead Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging initiatives in tech and care for over 200 plants in their apartment. Christopher started their Instagram account (@plantkween) in 2016 to share their journey of being a plant parent and has since built a diverse online community of plant enthusiasts. She uses plants as a vehicle to incite further conversations centering Black joy and resilience, LGBTQ+ advocacy, and the need to increase the visibility and empowerment of QTPOC in horticulture. Christopher also ventures into lifestyle spaces beyond horticulture, including fashion, skincare, wellness, and interior design. He has partnered with brands such as The Sill, Horti, Tula House, and Greenery Unlimited and have released a self-help guide called "YOU GROW, GURL!" to help people become successful plant parents. Christopher's goal is to continue building a community of plant enthusiasts, bringing more visibility to Black queer femmes in green spaces, and sharing the joy and happiness that plants bring into their life.

2. Research: Dig deep into what your green gurls like.
3. Repot: Upgrate to a pot that’s 2 inches larger about every 12-18 months.
4. Patience, dahling: Have faith & let that kween do her thing.
