Blue Hyacinth in Bulb Vase
It’s always fun to watch something grow, whether it’s a beautiful, blooming flower or the love you share with those closest to you. That’s what makes our unique, gorgeous blue hyacinth such a special surprise! It’s set in a clear glass vase so they can watch as it takes root before their eyes.
The hyacinth will bloom in 8-10 weeks, with the flowers lasting 1-2 weeks. Fill the lower portion of the glass with water so that the water level will be just at the base of the bulb and place a hyacinth bulb into the top of the glass. Change the water frequently and add the small piece of activated charcoal (included in kit) to keep the water clearer.
Place the bulb in a cool, dark location (about 48 degrees F) for 4-6 weeks while the roots develop. If the temperatures are significantly higher in your house, place the bulb in a cool cellar, basement, garage or your coolest room. Check the glass frequently to keep the water level just as the bulb base.
When the roots are 3-4 inches long, place the bulb in a location that receives indirect sunlight (68-74 degrees F) for approximately 10 days. The bulb should bloom within 3 weeks.
After handling hyacinth bulbs, wash hands with warm soapy water to prevent itching caused by dust.
Place the second bulb in a cool dry place until first bulb has died back. Once the first bulb has died back, place the second bulb on the glass for future flowering.
